The reasons for tinting

Obviously, many of the people who drive around with tinted windows, do it for privacy reasons. Others may do it to reduce the glare of the sun in the summer and the snow in the winter. Window tinting can also be useful in preventing harmful UVA and UVB rays from getting in the car and harming the driver’s skin. Also, when the sun is kept out of the car this way, the interior (as well as the while car) is less likely to overheat.

Is it expensive?

Much like other auto-related or mechanical work, the price is not set in stone. It depends on the material, the shop where it is done, and how skilled the professional is. Sometimes, it’s worth shelling out a little extra and knowing you’re in good hands. The expense can fall anywhere between $100 and $800 for a standard car.

What is the legal status od tinted windows?

Different states have different rules about tinted windows. Usually, you can’t have your entire windshield tinted, but you’re not likely to get a ticket for a tinted bar on the top of it. That being said, each state has a different standard of how large that bar can be. The reason for that usually has to do with security so the driver can see the outside and the police can see inside if necessary. As for the percentage of opacity, different states also have different laws. In California, for example, your driver and passenger windows can only block 30% of the light. So before you get your windows tinted, check for the rules and regulations of your state.
