Toyota issues a massive recall for 2009-2012 RAV4 models and 2012-2014 RAV4 EVs.

CORRODED LINKAGE COULD CAUSE WIPER TO FAIL

Toyota said on Thursday it will recall almost half a million RAV4 SUVs because of issues related to the windshield wipers.  Apparently, the 423,500 affected RAV4s have an issue where water will start to corrode a joint in the linkage near the wiper motor, which then causes the linkage to separate from the assembly. This could stop the wipers from working, which could result in a crash.

The models subject to recall include 2009-2012 RAV4 and the 2012-14 RAV4 EV (the all-electric version). Toyota says it’ll notify the owners of the subjected RAV4s via first-class mail.
